Light is essential for our life, especially for today‘s voluminous traffic, and for air travel in particular. In good or bad visibility. In daylight and at night time.
Lights are used, for example, to mark taxiways from the terminal to the runway, and to warn of obstacles.

And it is lights that use brightness and color to unambiguously mark thresholds, center lines, touchdown zones, stop bars, taxiways and runway ends, while providing pilots with important information on the approach direction and the glide path.
In the event of poor visibility or fog, this is supported with intensive flashes.
